During the past thirty
years while Pat McKay was studying ways to help her own health problems she realized the importance of proper nutrition for
each individual species. She has been and is now continuing to search for ways to improve natural health care for
carnivores with healthy foods, organic supplements, and homeopathy.
Her studies have included
attending allopathic, homeopathic, and holistic seminars and conferences all over the country for animals and people.
The information is then extrapolated into nutrition and natural health programs for dogs and cats.
During the 1980s she
owned and operated the Pat McKay Nutrition Center in the mid-Wilshire area of Los Angeles. Later she opened additional animal
nutrition centers in Pasadena and Woodland Hills, California.
In addition to nutrition
consultations and classical homeopathy for dogs and cats, her businesses have included grooming, boarding, training, retail/wholesale
nutrition supplements for animals.
In 2003, Pat McKay retired,
closed her nutrition facilities, and moved to Walker Lake, NV, where she and her four rescue dogs: Bogie, a 21-year-old
Belgian shepherd/Golden retriever; Jacques, a 15-year-old black standard poodle; Dutch, a 14-year-old Dutch shepherd;
and Lena, a 7-year-old black mini Shar-pei, now enjoy their busy retirement.
Pat McKay founded the
Society for Animal Homeopathy in 2008, a nonprofit foundation to promote proper nutrition and true, classical, Hahnemannian
homeopathy for animals.
